CARE GUIDE

Your Portar is built to last. Follow these care steps to keep its aluminum shell, polycarbonate EdgeFrame, precision rollers, and refined structure looking and performing their best for decades of travel.

CARE GUIDE

IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE CLEANING

To protect the distinguished finish of your Portar, never use bleach, acetone, or abrasive cleaners. These agents cause irreversible damage to the anodised aluminium, compromise rubber seals, and degrade the interior fabric. When in doubt, reach for a lightly dampened cloth with a trace of mild soap, nothing more.

Before you start

Cleaning Supplies Needed

A soft microfiber cloth is ideal for wiping the exterior surface and drying the suitcase without scratching the finish.

Use a gentle soap mixed with water for routine cleaning of the exterior shell and interior surfaces.

A soft-bristled brush can help remove dust or debris from corners, seams, wheels, and hardware.

CARE GUIDE INSTRUCTIONS

TO CLEAN

Aluminum

Clean the exterior of your Portar suitcase with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that may affect the finish.

Aluminum naturally records the story of its travels. Light scuffs and marks are a normal part of use and add character to the suitcase over time.

To maintain the interior, use a vacuum with a crevice attachment to remove dust and debris from the lining, corners, and pockets.

Aluminum EdgeFrame™

Wipe the polycarbonate shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap to remove surface dirt. Avoid abrasive materials or strong cleaners that may damage the surface.

The polycarbonate shell is engineered for durability and may develop light marks through regular travel. These are expected and do not affect the performance of the suitcase.

Clean the aluminum frame and edges with a soft cloth to remove dust or debris that may accumulate during transit. Maintain the interior by vacuuming the lining, corners, and pockets as needed.

TO CLEAN

TO STORE

Aluminum

Store your Portar suitcase in a cool, well-ventilated environment with low humidity. Before storing, ensure the case is completely clean and dry to help prevent moisture, mildew, or unwanted odors.

When not in use, place the suitcase inside the included cloth cover to protect it from dust during storage.

Aluminum EdgeFrame™

Keep your suitcase in a cool, dry space with good air circulation. Always make sure the luggage is clean and fully dry before storing to maintain the interior and exterior condition.

For added protection, store the suitcase inside the provided Portar dust bag when it is not in use.

DOS & DON'TS

✓ DO: WIPE DOWN AFTER EVERY TRIP

Use a damp microfibre cloth after every trip. Works on both Aluminum and Edgeframe surfaces.

✓ DO: STORE UPRIGHT IN A DRY PLACE

Keep your Portar upright on its wheels in a cool, dry spot. Leave sufficient space around it so the case does not rub against walls or surrounding surfaces, helping preserve its finish over time.

✓ DO: KEEP CLOSURES AND HARDWARE CLEAN

Occasionally inspect the frame channels, latches, and surrounding hardware for dust or debris. Use a soft brush or cloth to gently clear the area and maintain smooth operation of the closure system.

✗ DON'T: USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS

Avoid scouring pads, steel wool, or harsh chemicals. These permanently damage both the aluminum and polycarbonate surfaces.

✗ DON'T: SUBMERGE OR PRESSURE-WASH

Neither the Aluminum nor the Edgeframe is designed for immersion or high-pressure water. Moisture can seep into seams and damage the interior.

✗ DON’T: OVERPACK BEYOND CAPACITY

Forcing a closure on an overpacked bag stresses the frame. Pack within the recommended capacity for both Aluminum and Edgeframe.

Frequently asked questions

How often should i clean my Portar ?

A quick wipe after every trip is ideal. Do a deeper clean every few months or when you notice visible dirt buildup.

Can i use a damp cloth on the Aluminum?

Yes. Use a lightly dampened microfibre cloth. Dry it off immediately to avoid water spots on the anodized finish.

My wheels feel rough and noisy, what should i do ?

Degraded wheel performance is almost invariably caused by fibre or thread wound around the axle. We recommend revisiting the wheel care steps in the guide. Should the issue persist following a thorough clean, our support team is ready to assist with precision bearing replacement at your convenience.

Can Aluminum luggage scratch or dent ?

Yes. Aluminum naturally develops small scratches and marks through travel. These are a normal part of the material and do not affect the strength or performance of your suitcase. Many travelers appreciate this patina as it reflects the journeys the case has taken.

Is the interior lining machine washable?

The interior lining is permanently bonded to the shell structure and is not designed for removal. We recommend the targeted spot-cleaning method. For persistent or residual odor, place an open sachet of activated charcoal within the sealed case and allow it to work overnight, a refined solution for a refined piece.
