How to Attach Your Luggage Tag

Your Portar leather tag attaches with a simple belt-style strap. Feed the strap around your handle, thread the free end through the buckle and pull to lock. Three steps, no tools needed.

How to Attach Your Luggage Tag

Important

The Leather Luggage Tag comes only with our all-aluminum collection, Lucent, at launch. We will soon make the luggage tags available to purchase separately so you can add them to other suitcase collections as well.

Before you start

Your Portar tag comes with a strap already threaded through the slot at the top of the leather body. One end of the strap has a teardrop buckle that sits on the front face of the tag. The other end is the long free end you will use to wrap around the handle.

Fill in your contact details on the insert card before attaching the tag. Once secured, the card window faces outward and is readable without removing the tag from the handle.

Wrap the Strap Around the Handle

Take the long free end of the strap and pass it around the handle bar, going behind the bar and back out the other side, just like a belt through a loop.

The top carry handle or the side grab handle both work. Keep the tag body hanging on the outer face of the case so the contact card window faces outward.

Luggage Tag Tips

Tag Every Piece

Attach a tag to each bag in your set. If a bag goes missing, airline staff can return it much faster when every piece has a tag.

Check Before You Travel

Give the tag a firm tug before each trip to make sure the strap is still tight. To remove, push the free end back through the buckle and unwrap from the handle.

Best Handle to Use

The top carry handle is most visible to airport staff at the carousel. Attach the tag there so your details are easy to find if your bag goes missing.

Frequently asked questions

Which suitcases does the luggage tag come with?

The Leather Luggage Tag comes only with our all-aluminum Lucent collection at launch. We'll soon make luggage tags available to purchase separately so you can add them to other collections as well.

Can the tag come loose during transit?

No. Once the free end is through the buckle and pulled tight, the buckle grips the strap and holds firm. Pull it tight, give the tag a tug to check, and it won't come loose in transit.

How tight should I pull the strap?

Pull until the strap sits tight against the handle with no slack. Once secured, you shouldn't be able to slide the tag along the handle. A firm tug downward on the tag is the easiest way to check.

Which handle should I use?

Either the top carry handle or the side grab handle works. We recommend the top handle since it's the first part of the bag visible at the carousel, making your details easy for airline staff to spot.

Can I remove and reattach the tag?

Yes. Push the free end back through the buckle slot to loosen the strap, then unwrap it from the handle. You can re-attach the tag as many times as you like.
